Steve C. Kelly Legacy Scholarship Fund

Steve Charles "Pete" Kelly graduated from Manual High School, Kansas City, Missouri in 1970. He attended Baker University and was a standout athlete in both football and track. He graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and was named an Outstanding College Athlete of America in 1974. Steve’s greatest achievements were made as an educator in the Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri School Districts. He retired from teaching in 2010.

To honor his life and legacy, Steve’s family has established the Steve C. Kelly Legacy Scholarship Fund at Baker University. The purpose of the scholarship is to support the education and training of ethnic minority students, who are committed to improving the quality of primary and/or secondary education. Mr. Kelly had great passion and dedication to the art of teaching. In his own words, Mr. Kelly stated the following:

“Just as everyone has a style that is their own, so it is of teaching styles.”
