Planting Hope. Harvesting Change.
Leave No One Behind
Thrive began serving African communities in 2008. Nine years later projects have been started with various organizations in 20 different countries. Locally grown, disease-fighting food and herbal medicines are the only health care options that are available for more people trapped in extreme poverty. In developing countries there is only 1 doctor for every 10,000 people. Tradition health care in these areas is hopeless. Our long-term goal is that our cost-effective model of Growing Health will be available to any community in the world.
On September 13, 2017, Bill Gates stated that the global plan to end extreme poverty by 2030 was failing. There are many reasons for his statement, but often it is due to programs that are simply too expensive for the more than 2 billion people who do not have a universal health care program. We do know that if a fraction of the money was spent on prevention rather than treatment, then all villages would have a chance to be food and health secure.
As we move into a new year, we feel that there is a solution today for the 2 billion people who struggle to get enough health food, have little to no traditional medical care and whose life expectancy will probably be cut short by a third. They can have a future now.
We are also very thankful for the people who financially partner with us. For as little as $1.30 a day, entire communities can begin to tackle their own food and health challenges. That amount would not even begin to address health security for any community. The per day investment mentioned above is for the first year only. The ongoing costs to run and even expand the local program involves pennies per day.
Health care should be for everyone. Unfortunately, even the most basic traditional health care program costs half a trillion dollars yearly for those in developing countries. A universal Growing Health program would cost 24 billion dollars for the first year and half a billion dollars after that to maintain it for the same 2 billion people.
We feel this is the best 21st century solution. Please consider joining with us today.
