John Copeland Nagle Memorial Fund

John was an exceptionally kind and thoughtful man, known for his love of family and the outdoors, and his deep concern for students. John’s family was central to his life. He always found a way to cheer on his two daughters in all of their activities. John and his wife Lisa traveled together to many countries around the world. They enjoyed exploring and hiking together in new places. John and Lisa also served in many local and global ministries from Alpha to Young Life, international student ministry and the local church.

William Kelley said, “John was unfailingly gentle and kind, and endlessly generous — in thought, in word, and in deed. He lived Our Lord’s greatest commandments — to love God with all of one’s heart and soul, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself — as fully as anyone I’ve ever known. We will all miss his company, his good cheer, and his wisdom. But I’ll miss most of all his example, in small things and in large, of how to live a genuinely good life.”

In celebration of John's life, we set up this memorial fund where we plan to honor him by granting to organizations such as Michiana Young Life, New City Presbyterian Church, and The Nature Conservancy. Michiana Young Life is a ministry where adults who are concerned about kids go to them, on their turf, building bridges of authentic friendship. Young Life introduces kids to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith. John came to Christ at a Young Life camp 40 years ago. New City Presbyterian Church in South Bend is a church where John and Lisa attended. New City Church strives to be a cross-cultural church that is both committed to the city of South Bend and engages the local university communities. The Nature Conservancy is an organization committed to conserve the lands and waters around the world.
